The Stanley Cup final stands: The Tampa Bay Lightning challenges the Dallas Stars – because Anthony Cirelli scored decisive.
In game six of the Eastern Conference Final, the Lightning beat the New York Islanders 2-1 after extra time on Thursday evening (local time) and won the series 4-2. After 0: 2 and 1: 3 deficit, the Islanders shortened again – in vain.
Devon Toews had put the Islanders in the lead in their sixth duel in the first period before Victor Hedman scored for Tampa Bay before the break to equalize. After two thirds without goals, Anthony Cirelli took the decisive shot for victory 6:42 minutes before the end of extra time.
The Dallas Stars had already prevailed against the Vegas Golden Knights for the fourth time on Monday (local time) and secured the first Stanley Cup final ticket.
