Significant development on the first day of this edition of ‘ATP Cup 2021’. The number two tennis player in the world, the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, has announced through social networks that he will not participate in the debut match in the ATP Cup of Spain against the Australian Alex De Minaur.
Last year, Nadal and De Minaur were the protagonists of a spectacular match in the ATP Cup, with the Spaniard who triumphed after three very hard sets – SuperSport reports.
There will now be a change of schedule for the matches between Australia and Spain, which will follow the clash between the No. 2 countries respectively, John Millman and Pablo Carreno Busta, while Roberto Bautista will replace the 20-time Grand Slam title winner in the face-off with De Minaur.
“Hello to everyone! “I decided with my team not to play my first match today for the ATP Cup.”
“I am forced to lose this match due to a back problem and I hope to be better for the next race, on Thursday. “We have a strong team, I wish the best to Pablo Carreno Bustas”, Nadal explained in a message on social networks.
